Implications
The peaceful resolution of the crisis is not satisfied everyone. It has become a diplomatic embarrassment for Khrushchev and the Soviet Union, which looked giving back up to the situation that they themselves created. Offset Khrushchev few years later can be partially attributed to stimulation of the Soviet Politburo on the concessions the United States made by Khrushchev and his inept leadership that led to the crisis.
Cuba's communist leaders have regarded the compromise as a betrayal by the Soviet Union, as the decision to end the crisis, was made solely by Khrushchev and Kennedy.
Some U.S. military commanders also were unhappy with the outcome. So Air Force commander Gen. Lemay called rejection of attack Cuba "the worst defeat in our history."
After the crisis, analysts of Soviet and American intelligence officials have proposed to establish between Washington and Moscow direct phone line (so-called. "Red phone") so that in case of crisis the leaders of the superpowers had the opportunity to immediately communicate with each other, instead of using the telegraph.
